The Citizens of Character Award is an annual event held by Scouting America Orange County Council, to honor outstanding individuals who exemplify the values of the Scout Oath and Law. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional character and leadership in both their personal and professional lives, serving as role models for youth and inspiring others to lead lives of purpose and service.
Scouting America, Orange County Council, has a rich history of shaping the lives of young people and fostering the development of strong character. The Citizens of Character Award was established in 2000 to celebrate individuals who embody these values and have made a significant, positive impact on the Orange County community, regardless of whether they have ever been involved in Scouting. Over the years, the event has honored numerous distinguished individuals from various fields, including business, education, and community service.
This year, we thank the Volunteer leaders who are joining us in making sure we continue to recognize the Spirit of Scouting in our fellow citizens. Sharon Grimes, Eagle Scout Mom and long-time supporter, is joining us as this year’s Committee Chair. Sue Prescott, also an Eagle Scout Mom and scouter, will be joining the committee as a member. Finally, a 2007 Citizen of Character Honoree and long-time committee member, John Brown, returns as a committee member.
